A faction of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has hailed a Federal High Court, Ibadan, judgment refusing to recognise the Tanimu Turaki-led leadership of the party.
Jungude Mohammed, National Publicity Secretary of the PDP National Caretaker Working Committee, said this in a statement issued in Abuja on Friday.
He commended the judiciary for rising to its constitutional responsibility as an impartial arbiter in political and constitutional disputes.
Mohammed said the committee received with satisfaction the judgment delivered on Friday by the Federal High Court, Oyo Division.
He said the court restrained Turaki and others from parading as the PDP National Working Committee, recognising the Abdulrahman Mohammed-led Caretaker Committee.
“The judgment nullifying the Ibadan convention of Nov. 15 and Nov. 16, 2025 is a decisive victory for the rule of law,
“It reaffirms that legitimacy flows from compliance with the party constitution, extant laws and valid court orders, not self-help or impersonation,” Mohammed said.
Mohammed congratulated PDP members and supporters for their patience, resilience and faith in due process throughout the dispute.
He urged members to remain calm, law-abiding and united, embracing reconciliation, progress and renewed commitment to the ideals of the PDP.
“This victory belongs to the entire PDP family, and our doors remain open for genuine reconciliation and integration.
“It will strengthen unity, deepen cohesion and refocus efforts towards building a stronger and more formidable PDP,” he said. (NAN)
