365Daily – The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the November Anambra election, Senator Nicholas Ukachukwu, was humiliated after being held hostage at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, over an alleged $1.2 million debt.
Hotel insiders disclosed that the incident occurred late Sunday when a creditor reportedly confronted the senator within the premises, insisting on the settlement of a financial dispute said to have lingered for months. Security operatives at the facility were drawn into the matter after tensions escalated, effectively restricting Ukachukwu’s movement until negotiations commenced.
The development has triggered political ripples in Anambra, where opposition figures are already questioning the fitness of the APC candidate to hold public office. “What message does this send to voters if a governorship aspirant is being hounded over unsettled debts?” an Anambra resident in Awka queried, noting that the episode may weaken APC’s credibility in the state.
