The Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) in Sokoto State has taken a significant step towards addressing Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR).
The step was by conducting a training session for animal health service providers, value chain operators, and veterinary drug vendors.
The training aims to enhance participants’ knowledge and understanding of AMR and promote good animal husbandry practices.
It is also to improve understanding of AMR and its preventive measures, such as biosecurity and vaccination.
Encourage sustainable alternatives to antibiotic dependence in livestock production and build technical capacity in the rational use of antimicrobials in livestock and aquaculture.
The State Project Coordinator, Sirajo Abubakar, emphasized the importance of the training for livestock specialists, highlighting its role in promoting responsible antimicrobial use and reducing the risk of AMR.
