Alia expresses unwavering commitment to quality of education in Benue

He appealed to all stakeholders, parents,community leaders, educational bodies and the public to support his unwavering energies to redeem and redefine Benue State

Benue State Governor, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia, has expressed his unwavering commitment to fostering the quality of education and to ensure that the educators are equally remunerated adequately for their inestimable contributions.

Governor Alia, who made the commitment in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, in Makurdi, yesterday, while announcing the successful clearance of the outstanding 35 months of Earned Allowances, EA, and Earned Academic Allowances, EAA, paid to staff of the Benue State University, BSU by his administration, recalled that the struggle to realize this dream by varsity workers had started around 2010 when an agreement was reached for commencement of implementation.

According to Governor Alia, successful administrations did their best but the matter lingered for long with series of industrial actions until his administration came on board to intervene.

“This noble accomplishment reflects government’s unwavering commitment to fostering the quality of education and to ensure that our educators are adequately remunerated for their inestimable contributions” Alia declared.

He further explained that the Earned Allowances vary based on the length of employment, recognizing the diverse tenure of lecturerers, noting that why some have been with the institution since its commencement, others joined the university after the arrangement was established.

The governor equally stated that government recognized that not every lecturerer received the same amount, but assured that his administration would remain committed to making sure that all educators receive their due endowment to fulfill his vision for quality education in Benue State.

He also revealed in the statement that by prioritizing the welfare of educators, his administration is enhancing a society where academics will focus totally on delivering the best educational experiences to students, pointing out that his action is among a broader strategy to redefine governance and enhance the educational landscape in Benue State.

He appealed to all stakeholders, parents,community leaders, educational bodies and the public to support his unwavering energies to redeem and redefine Benue State.

While affirming that together, government and the people could reconstruct a hearty educational system that properly certifies both lecturerers and students to deliver, Governor Alia, expressed optimism that this way, government and the people could work towards a brighter tommorow for citizens of the state.
