Academic activities in Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic, Birnin Kebbi, the Kebbi state capital has been brought to a halt following the total compliance of the state chapter of Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP, with the directive of the mother union.
The Kebbi state chairman of ASUP, Comrade Muzammil Mansur, told our correspondent that they have joined the two weeks warning strike declared my the mother union.
“As you can see, there are no students; we have shut down the polytechnic to ensure total compliance with the directive of the national body”.
Mansur added that they don’t have local demands; all their demands are same with national demands hence the reason to to join the strike action.
He urged his members to remain calm and peaceful till further directives from the national body.
Recall that, ASUP had declared two weeks nationwide warning strike to compel the federal government to meet their demands and honour agreement reached between them.
