Governor Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto state has on Tuesday pardoned no fewer than 113 prison inmates in Sokoto Correctional Center.
The governor who was represented by the state’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Malam Nasir Binji announced that the gesture was contained in Section 212 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended.
The governor said 67 inmates were released unconditionally with a cash donation of 50,000 naira each to start new lives.

The governor thereafter advised the released ones to be good members of the society by complementing government’s effort.
He said this is part of his nine points agenda to improve social wellbeing of the members of the society promised during his campaign programme.
