Security Scare: Tinubu Forced to Change Campaign Dates In South East

365Daily – The Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has adjusted his campaign time-table to exclude campaigning in the Southeast on Mondays.
The proscribed group, Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), which has its base in the Southeast, had, in August 2021, declared a sit-at-home order on residents of the Southeast and for every day that the group’s leader, Nnamdi Kanu, is taken to court.

The change in schedule was leaked to 365Daily by a campaign official who preferred to remain anonymous on Sunday, November 6, 2022.

According to him, the decision was taken after a careful consideration of the risks involved in calling the bluff of the group on the lives of the Party’s supporters.

He also noted that the turnout of people at the rally may be poor if the rally is done on a Monday because of fear for their lives.

Explaining further, he stated: “We wanted to make a bold statement to non-state actors that they cannot dictate to us, but at the end of the day wise counsel prevailed.

“We could have gone there with a battalion of soldiers and nothing would happen but are we going to leave the soldiers with our supporters permanently.”

Sequel to the new development, the  Southeast zonal stakeholders’ meeting which was earlier scheduled to hold in Imo State on Monday, November 21, will now be held on Tuesday.

Similarly, the rally for Anambra has been rescheduled from Monday, January 30 to Tuesday, January 31, 2023.

The adjusted presidential campaign timetable was released by the campaign council on Friday night.
