365Daily – Nigerian cyber fraudster, Ramon Abbas, popularly known as Hushpuppi, has been sentenced to 11 years imprisonment ny a United States Central District Court in California.
Ramon was an instagram celebrity who treated his followers to his opulent lifestyle and display of luxury possessions.
He has already spent two years in prison, with nine more years to go behind US prison bars.
In June 2020, he and 12 others was arrested in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), for offences including hacking, impersonation, scamming, banking fraud and identity theft.
His activities were said to have extended to victims in the U.S, Qatar, the United Kingdom, and other places.
He was then extradited to the United States a d charged with fraud and money laundering.
In July 2021, he entered into a plea bargain agreement with the US government for a lighter punishment.
US Judge Otis Wright handed down the judgement and may uave considered Ramon’s appeal to temper justice with mercy by giving the 11 year jail term.
