Incumbent Chairman, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Abdullahi Candido, has congratulated Mr Christopher Zakka, the Chairman-elect of the area council, as well as the councillors-elect, on their victory at the Saturday’s polls.
Candido, while briefing newsmen at the council’s secretariat in Abuja, also commended residents of the council for conducting themselves properly during and after the election process.
“I am using this platform to congratulate both the councillors and the chairman-elect who got the masses votes and have the trust and the confidence of the people of AMAC to shoulder the affairs of council in the next few years.
“I wish them all the best and my transition committee which is comprehensive in nature will now further engage both the councillors and chairman-elect for easy transition,” he said.
The chairman also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for successfully conducting the area council elections.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Zakka, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was declared winner of Saturday’s AMAC chairmanship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He polled 19,302 votes to defeat Murtala Usman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who scored 13,240 votes.(NAN)
