365Daily – An explosion at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Thursday morning has left two people dead.
The incident occurred on Thursday, May 20, 2021.
It is the second reported explosion incident in the area, as a gas explosion killed four people at a nearby Conference Hotel owned by former Ogun State Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, on Tuesday, May 18, 2021.
The explosion at OOPL, which 365Daily learnt occurred at around 11:am at the Marcque event centre within the Presidential Library, happened while technicians were topping up gas in the Air Conditioners (AC).
365Daily gathered that the four explosion incidents have been recorded in Abeokuta in the past week. claiming three lives.
Last Wednesday, three persons, including an infant, were burnt to death in a gas explosion that occurred in Oke-Egunyan, along NTA Road in Abeokuta.
It also similarly occurred when a technician was topping up the gas of a faulty refrigerator.
Barely 24 hours later, another gas explosion occurred on Mercy Road, Panseke, Abeokuta, leading to the amputation of the leg of a technician, Sanya Shonde, due to injuries sustained from the unfortunate incident.
