365Daily – The crisis within the Adamawa State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has taken a fresh turn, with a State High Court ordering an immediate halt to the party’s planned congress.
Justice Kyanson Samuel Lawanson issued the interim order on April 10, 2026, restraining the party from conducting the exercise pending the hearing and determination of a suit filed before the court.
The application was brought by Israel Ishaku, who is seeking the enforcement of his fundamental rights.
After reviewing the court filings, including the supporting affidavit, exhibits, and written address, the judge held that the application was deserving of interim relief.
Th court subsequently barred the respondents, among them Sadiq Ibrahim Dasin, the African Democratic Congress, and retired Brigadier General Ishaya Bauka, from proceeding with the congress aimed at electing a state chairman.
Justice Lawanson noted that the directive was necessary to preserve the status quo and avoid actions that could undermine the outcome of the case, in line with the Fundamental Rights Enforcement Procedure Rules.
The case has been fixed for April 17, 2026, when parties are expected to appear for further proceedings.
