Gov. Seyi Makinde’s team on Saturday defeated Mutiu Adepoju’s team 3–2 in a novelty football match at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan.
The match was part of activities marking the golden jubilee celebration of the state.
Adepoju, a former Super Eagles player, is renowned for his skills and creativity during his playing career.
The match, which attracted a large crowd, saw Gov. Makinde score two goals and provide one assist.
In the final of the secondary schools’ football competition held at the same venue, AUD Grammar School, Saki, defeated Olivet Grammar School, Oyo, 3–1.
The event was attended by top government officials, politicians, sports administrators and entertainers.
Highlight of the event was the presentation of prizes to the winning teams by the governor.
Hundreds of residents of the state, dressed in customised T-shirts, thronged the stadium and were entertained with a musical concert by various artistes. (NAN)
