The Nigeria Union of Journalists, FCT Council, has sought a strategic partnership with Tayan Group Construction to advance affordable housing and complete its ultra-modern Congress Hall in Abuja.
The NUJ-FCT Chairman, Ms Grace Ike, made the appeal on Wednesday during a courtesy visit by council leaders to Tayan Group’s headquarters in Abuja.
Ike described Tayan Group as a significant contributor to Abuja’s urban development and a credible organisation aligned with sustainable growth.
Representing over 1,500 journalists in the FCT, Ike said the union prioritised partnerships that promote social responsibility, professional development and improved welfare for members.
She appealed for support for the ongoing Congress Hall project, designed as a hub for media training, professional engagement and enhanced journalists’ welfare.
“We humbly seek your support through materials, technical expertise or assistance to complete this vital project and create a lasting legacy for journalism,” Ike said.
She outlined collaboration areas including media support, joint community initiatives, capacity-building programmes and mass housing schemes tailored for journalists in Abuja.
Ike also urged stronger synergy toward realising the NUJ FCT Journalists Village, describing it as critical to economic empowerment and welfare in the media sector.
On mass housing, she expressed optimism that credible partners like Tayan Group would help actualise the Journalists Village for NUJ members.
Responding, Tayan Group Managing Director, Mr Akinjide Fagbemi, reaffirmed readiness to support inclusive development collaborations within the media sector.
He described the engagement as “long overdue” and commended the NUJ FCT Council leadership for the visit.
“We consider our clients’ families. Collaboration is how the world works, and no organisation can thrive alone,” Fagbemi said.
He noted that media visibility and credibility were vital to real estate success, adding that Tayan Group was open to working with the NUJ.
“We are ready to partner the NUJ FCT Council and believe this collaboration will deliver positive results,” he said.
On affordable housing, Fagbemi disclosed that the company offers land and housing options across Abuja for various income categories.
“We provide solutions from ₦600,000 to luxury properties above ₦100 million, ensuring even the poorest can own a roof,” he said.
He assured NUJ members of flexible payment plans, including up to two years for land acquisition and longer tenures through financial institutions.
“Our properties are affordable because we understand how difficult earning money can be,” Fagbemi added.
He further pledged support for the NUJ-FCT project, saying the company would visit the council to deliberate on areas of assistance. (NAN)
