Bago commends NAF for upholding national security

Governor Umaru Bago of Niger has commended the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) for its professionalism and sacrifices in safeguarding Nigeria’s territorial integrity and national security, particularly in the state.

Bago, represented by the Commissioner for Homeland Security, Maurice Magaji, stated this while speaking as the Special Guest of Honour at the 2025 Base Socio-Cultural Activities (BASA) of NAF in Minna.

Bago expressed appreciation to the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday-Kelvin Aneke, for his leadership and for combining the BASA with a parley with NAF veterans.

He said that the initiative provided a platform to recognise and honour the sacrifices of retired personnel, who contributed to the growth and successes of the NAF.

Bago said that Nigeria’s rich cultural diversity remained a source of unity and strength, adding that BASA further promoted national cohesion and mutual understanding.

He lauded officers and men of NAF for their dedication and commitment to combating insecurity and insurgency across the country.

The governor acknowledged the critical role of the NAF in counterinsurgency and anti-banditry operations under Operation FANSAN YAMMA in Niger.

He assured the NAF of the state government’s continued support through sustained collaboration and the provision of necessary resources and infrastructure to enhance operational effectiveness.

Bago congratulated the commander, officers, men and the entire base community on the successful hosting of the 2025 BASA and prayed for continued peace and progress in Niger and the country at large.

Earlier in his welcome address, Group Capt. Kehinde Akinyosade, Commander, 013 Quick Response Force (QRF), Nigerian Air Force Base Minna, said the 2025 BASA marked the close of the operational year.

Akinyosade said the event also provided an avenue to strengthen unity, cultural identity and esprit de corps within NAF community.

He expressed appreciation to Aneke for his visionary leadership and consistent support to the base.
