The Jigawa State and Local Governments Contributory Pension Scheme has disbursed a total of N12,614,826,460.17 billion to over 5,000 retirees from 2024 to January 2026.
The State Head of the Civil Service, Muhammad K. Dagaceri, confirmed this development while launching the payment of N1.5 billion to 592 retirees at the Pension House.
He said in 2024, Governor Umar Namadi, allocated N5,422,239,826.32, benefiting 2,033 retirees. In 2025, the Governor released N5,681,618,940.89, which was disbursed to 2,211 retirees, adding that today the scheme will disburse N1,510,967,692.96 to 592 retirees which he described as a part of the Governor’s commitment to enhancing the welfare of civil servants.
The HOS disclosed that Upon taking office in May 2023, Governor Namadi established a committee to reform the State Contributory Pension Scheme, reflecting his dedication to civil servant welfare.
Muhammad K Dagaceri praised the scheme as one of the best in the country, urging civil servants to reciprocate the government’s efforts through dedication to their duties.
Addressing the retirees, the Executive Secretary, Jigawa State and Local Governments Contributory Pension Scheme Board, Dr. Bilyaminu Shitu Aminu, said the Board will begun payments of N1, 510, 967,692.96 as terminal benefits to 592 retirees.
He said the amount represent comprehensive payment of entitlements such as retirement and death benefits, and Death pension balance.
According to the Executive Secretary, the payment covered retirees of state, local governments and Local Education Authorities (LEAs).
He said that 188 retirees from the state government received retirement benefits amounting N562, 347, 265.65million while 154 others from local governments got N318, 192, 383.00 million while 114 retirees from LEAs received N283, 856, 413. 69million.
The Executive Secretary said that under death benefit, 36 beneficiaries from state received N136, 988,269.98 million, 31 deceased from local government Council 31 received N81, 951,872.84million and 26 others from LEAs received N71, 065, 605.84million.
Bilyaminu Aminu said: “Under death pension balance, 20 beneficiaries from state received N38, 158, 808,.50million while 10 from local government Council received N5, 726, 384.81 and 13 others from LEAs received N12, 680, 688.65million.He reiterated commitment of the state government towards improving the welfare of workers and retirees to enhance effective service delivery.
“The board is up-to-date in the payment of entitlements to retirees, including those who died in active service,” he said.
