Man, 29, docked for allegedly stealing $7,500

A 29-year-old man, Quadri Wasiu, who allegedly stole his business partner’s  7,500 dollars (N11 million), on Friday appeared before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan.

Wasiu, whose address was not provided, is facing a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy, stealing and assault.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Insp. Olagoke Adegbenro, told the court that the defendant committed the offences alongside others who are now at large, on Jan. 8 at about 5.10 p.m. at Akala Express, Ibadan.

He alleged that the defendant collected the sum of 7,500 dollars from a complainant, one Mr Kalid Olamilekan, for a business he contracted him to do.

According to the prosection, the defendant failed to deliver the business.

He alleged that the defendant instead, assaulted the complainant by beating him up when he asked for a refund of his money.

“After assaulting the complainant, he stole his iphone worth N300,000,” he said

He said the offences contravene the provisions of sections 351, 390(9) and 516 of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Mrs Olasinmibo Sanusi-Zubair, granted the defendant bail in the sum of one millon naira, with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case until March 2, for mention.(NAN)
