Nigeria’s vice president, Senator Kashim Shattema has described the abduction of Maga school girls as a national tragedy, telling them Nigeria shares in their grief.
Shettima was in Kebbi to symphatise with the people of the state over the abduction of schoolgirls in Maga under Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
According to him, Kebbi State is not alone; the entire nation stands with them, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is deeply sadden by the incident and remains worried till our daughters are rescued unhurt”.
He noted that Nigeria will not rest until all the girls are rescued using all available state apparatus.
Shettima added that the federal government will honour and take care of families of late vice principal who sacrificed his life to defend his students.
“We will honour and take care of the family of vice principal of the school. His sacrifice will not go in vain”.
He commended Nigeria military, Police, DSS and NSCDC for their efforts in the frontline working hard to protect Nigerians. He particularly mentioned late Brigadier-General Uba for paying the supreme price at the battlefield saying his sacrifice also will not go in vain.
Shettima lauded the efforts of Kebbi State governor, Dr Nasir Idris in the area of security describing him as true son of the north and one of the best governors in the north.
“You are a kind and good man; we appreciate your efforts in Kebbi State”.
The vice president arrived Kebbi in company of minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Atiku Bagudu, Humanitarian minister, NEMA, minister of Women Affairs, APC national chairman among other top political brass.
In his remark, Governor Idris thanked the vice president and the president for standing with Kebbi in its hour of grief.
“We appreciate your coming to Kebbi to symphatise with us and we have absolute confidence in Mr. President’s capabilities in terms of insecurity”.
