365Daily – Suspected bandits on Sunday night invaded Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, abducting at least 25 schoolgirls and killing the school’s vice principal.

A resident, Sulaiman Abdullahi, told Vanguard that the attackers arrived in large numbers and were armed with sophisticated weapons.

“They came in mass numbers at night and began shooting sporadically before gaining access to the school,” he said, adding that several unidentified bodies were seen within the school premises after the raid.

Abdullahi said Air Force fighter jets were sighted hovering over the area at about 8 a.m. on Monday, while security operatives moved in to cordon off the community.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Kebbi State Police Command, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, said a tactical team had been deployed to commence rescue operations for the abducted students.

He noted that the Commissioner of Police, Bello Sani, had ordered intensified efforts to ensure the safe return of all the girls and to put an end to the escalating threat in the area.
