One time Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly and former governorship candidate in 2015 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Terhemen Tarzoor, has thrown his weight behind Governor Hyacinth Alia, affirming total and unwavering support for his administration.
Tarzoor, a former Nigerian Ambassador to Namibia pronounced the endorsement during a press conference he addressed Monday at the NUJ House in Makurdi, recalling his 2015 governorship bid, noting that while his journey to office did not materialize, he now sees those same aspirations vividly reflected in Governor Alia’s visionary leadership.
Painting a vivid picture of the transformation he has witnessed, Tarzoor affirmed that each time he visits Benue, he is inspired by the visible transformation taking place from the remarkable urban renewal of the capital city to the spread of development projects across rural communities.
He highlighted the renewed hope, smiles, and palpable satisfaction among the people as evidence of a government working with sincerity, accountability, and purpose.
The former Benue Speaker praised Governor Alia’s leadership qualities of integrity, discipline, humility, and a results‑oriented focus, adding that the governor’s massive infrastructural strides, prudent economic diversification toward industrialization, human‑capital development, and commitment to workers’ welfare have been particularly impressive.
Tarzoor who endorsed the governor for a second term, pledged to lend his voice, resources, and every possible support to sustain and expand the progress, affirming that under the governor’s stewardship, Benue State is experiencing a renaissance that restores faith in governance that has rekindled the collective spirit of the people.
He further explained that the emergence and performance of the governor have reawakened the ideals of purposeful leadership and inspired a new generation of Benue youths to once again believe in the promise of selfless public service, praying that God bless Governor Alia, with greater wisdom, strength, and divine direction to complete the great work he has begun.
The former Benue Speaker who prayed God to bless the good people of Benue State with unity, patience, and enduring faith in this unfolding story of growth and progress, restated support with the administration pledging to offer support within his capacity to ensure the success and continuity of the Alia administration.
