By Abdullahi Idris, Dutse

Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has once again reiterated his administration’s firm resolve to make education the bedrock of sustainable development in the State.

The Governor made this declaration while addressing a large audience at the 8th and 9th Combined Convocation Ceremony of the Federal University Dutse (FUD), where hundreds of students were awarded undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.

In his address, Governor Namadi expressed profound gratitude for the opportunity to participate in the momentous academic breakthrough, describing the convocation as both historic and inspirational, as he congratulated all the graduating students and applauded their dedication, perseverance, and achievements.

“Today is a testament to your dedication, perseverance, and hard work. You have overcome challenges and prepared yourselves to step into a world filled with more challenges which, however, comes with opportunities and responsibilities,” the Governor stated.

Governor Namadi also took time to commend the management and academic leadership of the University for upholding a tradition of academic excellence and innovation, adding that in spite of being just over a decade old, FUD has earned impressive accolades both nationally and internationally.

“With a history of only about 14 years, having been established in 2011, FUD is already making headlines in academic excellence and research. At various times, the University has been rated among the best performing in various spheres of academic endeavour. I am aware that, FUD was rated at one time as the best in Mathematical Sciences among all African Universities.”

The Governor highlighted that his administration is already collaborating with the University in key research and development areas—particularly in agriculture, stating that through joint agricultural research initiatives, the State is seeking innovative solutions to farming challenges while empowering youth to become agribusiness leaders.
