Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko has urged residents of Sokoto State to take precautionary measures ahead of predicted flooding in some parts of the state as the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMET) has forecasted heavy rainfall and flooding in several states, including Sokoto.
NiMET predicts flooding in Sokoto and other states, particularly in flood-prone areas with poor sanitation.
Senator Wamakko therefore advises residents to take necessary precautions to mitigate the impact of flooding.
The predicted flooding and heavy rainfall may lead to outbreaks of cholera and other waterborne diseases.
Bashar Abubakar in a statement said expected to experience heavy rainfall and flooding, with potential risks to residents and infrastructure according to NiMET identifies Lagos, FCT, Kaduna, Ebonyi, Cross River, Abia, and Akwa Ibom as high-risk states, while Katsina, Zamfara, Kano, Jigawa, Yobe, and Borno are also expected to see significant rainfall.
