Gov. Eno reacts to daughter’s video, says detractors at work

My family is intact. You can see that Jane, herself, is here, that’s Helen and her husband. So we have a good family.

365Daily – Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has urged his political detractors to stop politicising the death of his wife and bringing back painful memories to his family.

Umo was reacting to a viral video circulating on social media showing his daughter accusing him of sacrificing her mother. She added that her life and that of her daughter was at risk.

Saying his family is intact, the governor noted that it was curious that the  video which was made in 2024 when his wife passed on was being circulated on the eve of the celebration of his second anniversary.

He said, “We are in political times, so you expect more of that. My family is intact, and you can see everyone here with me.

“The event we are talking about happened immediately my wife passed on, and that was last year. So why is it surfacing and trending now? Why is it in the eve of the 2nd year anniversary that we are celebrating the milestone that we have achieved.

“This teaches me that there are detractors around. My family is intact. You can see that Jane, herself, is here, that’s Helen and her husband. So we have a good family.

“The pressure on the kids when they lose a loved one could be traumatic and we must know that.

“All I can appeal to the public is, there shouldn’t bring back sad memories. It is enough that I have lost my wife, and I pray that they allow her peaceful soul to rest in peace.

“I can’t be distracted. I remain focused and I will continue to serve Akwa Ibom people. I don’t wish what happened to me should happen to anyone. So, to people throwing these around, if that is what they wish for themselves, I wish them luck.”
