Some youth group under the auspices of (Francis Ogbonnaya Nwifuru Support Group) FON Youth Movement, Abuja Branch have commended Ebonyi State governor, Francis Nwifuru for what they termed unprecedented physical and human capital developmental strides across the state.
Speaking to newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday, the FCT branch coordinator of the group who was also chairman of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Ebonyi State chapter, Comrade Nwiboko Peter Temple, said contrary to insinuations by some opposition elements, the governor has taken the state to a very high pedestrian especially in talent development.
According to the coordinator “Ebonyi State has never had it this good from its creation in 1996 till date because His Excellency Rt. Hon. Bildr Francis Ogbonnaya Nwifuru is carrying out transformational development programmes across all strata, not only in infrastructure.
“Nwifuru revitalised Ebonyi secondary healthcare systems, increased medical doctors’ monthly salaries from N350,000 to N500,000, he offered both foreign and local scholarship to students of Ebonyi indigenes, increased subvention to Ebonyi State University.
“He established the ICT University at Oferekpe, revitalised Ebonyi Pipe Production Industry, Ebonyi building materials at Ezzangbo, flagged-off the construction of Ebonyi-Enyim multiple billion-naira unity bridge to foster access and economic activities between Ebonyi and Benue states, the ongoing Ebonyi Industrial Cluster, Revitalisation of Nkaliki Hatchery, payment of backlog gratuity to Ebonyi retirees and many more”
The youth leader took special time to thank Governor Nwifuru on the role he played in establishing peace between two protracted warring communities of Ezza and Effium in Ohaukwu local government.
He also appreciated the governor for the provision of luxury buses to enhance transportation for Ebonyi workers and students including buying more modern buses for the Ebonyi State Transport Company (EBOTRANS), to enable them compete favourably with their peers engaged in short and distant journeys.
As Nigeria marks 26th years of transition from military to civil rule on May 29, the youth group congratulated the governor who also marked two years on the saddle of the state, having served as speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly for a period of eight years between 2015 to 2023.
The group also endorsed the Governor Nwifuru for second term come 2027 general election and reiterate their commitment to galvanising support and solidarity to his people-oriented leadership in state, which has placed Ebonyi on the frontline of national politics
