Management of Lobi Stars FC of Makurdi has strongly refuted allegations that the team’s players, officials, and former coach, Daniel Amokachi, were involved in match-fixing.

The Director, Media of the Club, Emmanuel Uja, who was reacting to the allegations trending on social media, and other sections of the media in a statement Monday in Makurdi, stated that the reporter deviated from what he said during an interview which was recorded on tape.

According to him, he only mentioned that Amokachi had expressed concern about players and officials involved in betting during a meeting, as well as warned that it should stop, denying that there was no mention of match-fixing.

Uja in the statement said the club has instructed its lawyer to write to the publication’s management to retract the story and issue an apology, adding that he has also attached a tape recording of his statement to support his rebuttal.

Uja who said allegations of match-fixing could have serious implications for the team’s reputation and the integrity of the sport, advised journalists to always verify information and ensure accurate reporting to avoid spreading misinformation.
