365Daily – Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has denied allegations that her recent visit to her hometown was a politically motivated event.
The senator, who represents Kogi Central Senatorial District, insisted that her trip on April 1, 2025, was solely to celebrate Sallah with her constituents and had no campaign undertones.
Addressing claims that she paid attendees to be present, Akpoti-Uduaghan described the allegations as unfounded. “This was a celebration of unity and shared love, not politics,” she said. “The people who welcomed me did so of their own free will, and I deeply appreciate their sacrifice.”
Despite a government-imposed restriction on vehicular movement, thousands of supporters navigated bush paths to receive her with a grand welcome. Akpoti-Uduaghan, who arrived by chopper, was met with overwhelming cheers.
She emphasised that the crowd represented residents from all five local government areas of Kogi Central and accounted for less than three percent of her overall supporters. According to her, the turnout was a reflection of her enduring influence and connection with the people.
Beyond the Sallah festivities, the senator highlighted her developmental contributions to the district. She noted that the very road where people gathered to welcome her was a project she had facilitated and constructed even before becoming a senator.
Expressing gratitude for the show of support, she reassured her constituents of her unwavering commitment to their welfare, saying, “Your presence here today, despite the challenges, humbles me,” Akpoti-Uduaghan stated.
“It only strengthens my resolve to continue working tirelessly for the progress of our land.”
The grand reception further underscored her popularity in Kogi Central, countering narratives from political opponents.
