Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has reiterated the unwavering commitment of his administration towards ensuring career progression in the state’s civil service.
Speaking when he hosted Permanent Secretaries and senior civil servants for a Ramadan iftar at the Government House Bauchi, the Governor said improving remuneration, welfare for civil servants remains a top priority of the administration.
Governor Bala Mohammed said his government deemed it necessary to be undertaking a number of reforms in the service to ensure effective and timely implementation of people’s oriented policies and programmes.
According to him, civil service remains the best institution for any administration to succeed in the delivery of dividends of democracy, hence the need for his administration to be supporting the office of the Head of Civil Service in the training and retraining of the workforce to enhance productivity.
“You know I was a civil servant before and civil service has helped to achieve greater things in my life. Therefore I will do everything possible to restore the lost glory of the service in Bauchi. I must thank our civil servants for giving their support in the implementation of my administration’s policies in their respective Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
“All the ongoing reforms in the service are for the best interest of the state. At this point I want to assure you of my support on reward and punishment system so that we can ensure discipline and productivity.”
On the implementation of Contributory Pension Scheme in the state, Governor Bala Mohammed said his administration has since released the state government’s contribution to fast track the implementation process.
On his part, the State Head of Civil Service, Barrister Sani Umar who expressed gratitude to Governor Bala Mohammed for his administration’s outstanding support for the progress and development of the service, reiterated the 100 unflinching loyalty and support of the workforce to achieve the desired objectives.
