365Daily – The member representing Ogbaru Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Afam Victor Ogene, has trained and empowered 50 youths in Anambra State with information and communication technology (ICT) skills.
The training which held at Ruchem Hotel, Iyiowa-Odekpe, Ogbaru Local Government Area, on Sunday, February 23, 2025, marks the fourth phase of his human capital development programme in the past five months.
The initiative, which follows previous trainings in solar energy technology, clean cooking, and fishery, aims to equip young people with relevant skills for socio-economic development. Each participant received a laptop computer and a cash grant to support their continued learning and application of ICT skills.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Ogene emphasised that the programme aligns with his strategy to promote economic growth in Ogbaru Federal Constituency. He expressed appreciation to his associate, High Chief Mac-Chris Ndubuisi, Ikenga Umuawulu, for his support towards the initiative.
“Our aim is not just to give our people fish, but to also teach them how to fish. We will continue to facilitate skills acquisition and entrepreneurship opportunities to help our people thrive,” Ogene stated.
“Beyond university education, which we also support, we are integrating economic-enhancing soft skills and evolving technologies, starting with last year’s solar energy training.”
Participants in previous phases also received starter packs and financial assistance to establish themselves in their respective fields. Many beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the initiative, commending Ogene’s dedication to youth empowerment.
Miss Amuche Okoronkwo, one of the beneficiaries, described the programme as life-changing. “I’m very grateful for the representation Hon. Afam Ogene is giving us in Ogbaru. Receiving a laptop and financial support is a dream come true for me,” she said.
Hon. Ogene reaffirmed his commitment to fostering development through skill acquisition and infrastructure projects, pledging to sustain his efforts in empowering youths and advancing economic opportunities in the constituency.
