Governor Umar Namadi has restated his commitment to making Jigawa State better through the implementation of his administration’s policy goals contained in the 12-Point Agenda blueprint.
Speaking at a two-day retreat in Gombe organized for the state’s top government leaders, including commissioners and heads of agencies, to discuss how to improve governance and teamwork, he told government officials they must work together to speed up development and improve people’s lives.
The retreat’s theme, “Ascending the Peak—Achieving Greater Jigawa Through Innovation and Leadership,” set the stage for discussions on improving governance, using technology, and aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Governor Namadi said progress is being made, but there’s still more to do: “We’ve done a lot, but we can’t slow down. We must finish ongoing projects and launch new ones that benefit our people,” he said.
He highlighted job creation for young people, especially in farming, small businesses, and technology, through the J-Recruitment program.
“The success stories of most of our youth employment and empowerment programs across various sectors are a testimony to progress on this takeaway. No less than xxx of our teeming youth were gainfully employed or empowered to be productive members of our society, contributing to the growth of our economy. These include the various interventions in the agricultural sector, small and microenterprises, women empowerment, ICT, and our J-Recruitments in the education and health sectors, to mention just a few.”
The governor also talked about the state’s growing budget, which has increased by over 130% compared to last year, stressing the need to find new ways to fund projects, like partnering with private businesses and making better use of state resources.
“No single agency can do it alone. When we work together, we save time, money, and effort,” he added.
Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State, who declared the event open, praised Jigawa’s developmental progress under Governor Namadi, as he shared Gombe’s own achievements in business reforms, civil service management, and environmental protection.
“Your 12-point agenda, which touches on critical areas such as agriculture, education, healthcare, investment promotion, ICT, and human capital development, among others, is a bold and comprehensive roadmap for transforming Jigawa State into a model of sustainable development,” he said.
“As we come together to explore innovative governance and transformative leadership, I am reminded of the importance of peer learning and the sharing of best practices. In Gombe State, we have also made significant strides in various sectors, and I am confident that some of our experiences could provide valuable lessons and inspirations for Jigawa State.”
The retreat featured sessions on making government work better, improving public services, and using technology to boost efficiency in governance.
