365Daily – The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, has congratulated the newly elected president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Afam Osigwe.
In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Levinus Nwabughiogu, on Saturday, July 21, 2024, Kalu, who is also a lawyer, enjoined Osigwe to bring his wealth of experience to bear in his new assignment.
He also urged him to ensure that professionalism and integrity remain the lot of members.
The chairman of the House or Representatives Committee on Constitution Review assured that he will work with the president-elect in achieving the desired judicial reform for the promotion of rule of law in the country.
Osigwe, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), is a senior partner at Law Forte, a firm of legal practitioners, arbitrators and notaries. He emerged winner of the online NBA presidential election held over the weekend.
The president-elect holds two masters of law degrees and was called to the Bar in Nigeria, in September 1999, became a SAN in 2020.
He has also served as a chairman and General Secretary of the Bar at different times.
