The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, has sworn in over 1,688 corps members of the 2024 Batch A Stream I set deployed to Nasarawa state for their mandatory national service.
Governor Abdullahi Sule declared the three weeks orientation course open at the swearing in ceremony of the set at the Magaji Dan-Yamusa NYSC Permanent Orientation camp in Keffi local government area of the state on Tuesday.
Sule represented by Hon. Jaafaru Ango, Commissioner for Youths and Sports urged the corps members to reflect on the weight of the responsibilities that lie on them, adding that their services transcend geographical boundaries.
According to him, “It is a bridge that connects diverse communities, fostering understanding and collaboration. Therefore, your efforts both big and small, will leave an indelible marks on the lives of those you serve. Take this chance to learn, lead and leave your make ” .
He then urged them to take the orientation course very seriously and abide by the Bye-laws of the scheme to sarve as their guiding principles throughout their service year.
He’s words, “Therefore, I implore you to pay meticulous attention to their contents as they provide the framework for a successful and impactful service year. Now, these are not mere formalities but essential guide that will shape your your experiences during the service year”.
Speaking earlier, Alhaji Abdullahi Jikamshi, Coordinator of the Scheme in the state urged the corps members to adhered to all camp rules and respect constituted authority always, advising them to participate actively in all activities, and seize the opportunities for personal and collective development.
He said since the commencement of the orientation exercise, the corps members have adjusted well enough to the camp life adding that their enthusiasm and resilience have created an atmosphere of unifying purpose.
