The wife of the state governor Hajiya Fatima Ahmad Aliyu donated cash assistance to the VVF patients
Wife of Sokoto State governor, Hajiya Fatima Ahmad Aliyu, has assured of the state government’s commitment towards eradicating fistula and improving safe motherhood.
She gave the assurance at an occasion to celebrate World Fistula Day and Safe Motherhood held at Maryam Abacha Women and Children Hospital Sokoto.
Hajiya Fatima Ahmad Aliyu said this was to ensure every woman in Sokoto, particularly pregnant ones, have access to quality healthcare for safe delivery.
She then pledged to provide a generator and other equipment to the hospital for the smooth conduct of its activities.
Fatima Ahmad Aliyu while re-affirming the commitment of the state government to improving the activities of the hospital also called on women to always engage in small scale businesses so as to be self-dependents.
The wife of the state governor Hajiya Fatima Ahmad Aliyu donated cash assistance to the VVF patients and also called on the management of the hospital to forward their challenges to the state government for urgent intervention.
In her remarks state Commissioner for Health, Asabe Balarabe spoke extensively on the effort being made by the present administration of Dr. Ahmad Aliyu to improve the health status of women and children in the state.
Hajiya Asabe Balarabe said the state government is doing its best to improve the living condition of VVF patients in the state by establishing a VVF centre as well as providing them with psychosocial support to have a better life after they recovered.
Also commenting, Executive Secretary of Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Larai Aliyu Tambuwal, described the hospital as her second home and she is always ever ready to give her support to revamp the activities of the hospital.
Earlier the CMD of the hospital Dr Hadiza Aliyu Tori briefed the wife of the governor on some of the challenges affecting the hospital among which is electricity.
