365Daily – As the political travails of the embattled immediate past Deputy Governor of Edo State, Hon. Philip Shaibu, continues in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), members of his local ward have warned him to keep away from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Following a long drawn struggle with the Governor of the State, Godwin Obaseki, over his refusal to endorse him as his successor when his tenure ends in November this year, the Edo House of Assembly yesterday impeached him from office over misconduct.
He had earlier lost the primary election for the PDP’s governorship ticket to Asuen Ighodalo, the anointed candidate of Obaseki, while Monday Okpebholo emerged candidate of the APC.
In a video circulating on social media, women, youths and men were seen holding placards with inscriptions like “Philip Shaibu, we don’t want you in APC,” as they walked down a road.
It is unclear what his next move would be, even as he described his impeachment as a “danger to democracy. ”
