Supreme Court had on Tuesday reserved judgement in the appeal field by Ombugadu, challenging results of the 18th March, 2023 governorship election in Nasarawa State
Nasarawa State governor, Abdullahi Alhaji Sule of the All Progressives Congress, APC, will know his fate on Friday, January 19 as the Supreme Court is set to deliver judgement in the appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) 2023 gubernatorial election, David Ombugadu challenging his reinstatement by the court of appeal.
It would be recalled that the Supreme Court had on Tuesday reserved judgement in the appeal field by Ombugadu, challenging results of the 18th March, 2023 governorship election in Nasarawa State which declared Abdullahi Sule winner.
The five-man panel led by Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, reserved the judgement after taking arguments from lawyers involved in the matter on Tuesday, January 16, 2024.
The Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) through its Counsel, Kanu Agabi (SAN) had appealed to the apex court to set aside the November 23, 2023, judgement of the Court of Appeal which upheld Sule as the duly elected governor.
Agabi argued that the October 2, 2023, judgement of the Nasarawa State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal granted in favour of PDP and Ombugadu be restored.
He stated that the Court of Appeal unjustly nullified the tribunal’s judgement and declared Sule as the winner of the March 18 gubernatorial election.
