365Daily – The House of Representatives has invited the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs/Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu, to appear before the House to explain how she disbursed the 1.1 Trillion Naira set aside by the Federal Government to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal.

In his independence day address on October 1, 2023, President Bola Tinubu announced the payment of N 25,000 to 15 million households for three months as part of efforts to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal.
This followed a motion moved Hon. Abdulmaruf Adewale Adebayo in plenary on Tuesday, on the matter.
Adebayo said while moving the motion during the plenary, that the 15 million households who were to benefit from the programme were yet to be receive any money.
He argued that it would be right to say the programme haa not achieved its goal because Nigerians are still experiencing  economic hardships withoit help from government.
According to him,  his constituents have expressed suspicion over the way the disbursement is being handled, hence the invitation to the minister to come before the House to explain the modalities used for the disbursement of funds.
