365Daily – One of the nominees sent by President Bola Tinubu to the Senate for screening and confirmation as minister, Nasir El-Rufai, has asked to be replaced after the Senate declined to confirm him.
El-Rufai is the immediate past Governor of Kaduna State and a former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
It was gathered that he told President Tinubu at a meeting on Tuesday, a day after the Senate withheld his confirmation based on a report from the Department of State Security Service, that he was no longer interested in becoming a minister, but recommended Jafaru Sani as replacement.
Sani served under the ex-governor’s administration as commissioner for Local Government, Education and Environment, respectively.
El-Rufai also reportedly said he needed time to focus on his doctorate programme at a university in The Netherlands,” according to a source quoted by Premium Times.
