365Daily – The suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr Godwin Emefiele, has been arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) in Lagos.
The office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation yesterday announced the immediate suspension of Emefiele from office to allow investigation into his activities.
DSS had earlier on Saturday, through its spokesman, Mr Peter Afunanya, denied that Emefiele was in its custody, but later admitted that he has been brought into the Abuja office for questioning.
However, in a statement released on Saturday afternoon, he confirmed that the suspended CBN governor was now in their custody in Abuja for investigation.
“The Department of State Services (DSS), hereby confirms that Mr Godwin Emefiele, the suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria is now in its custody for some investigative reasons.
“The public, particularly the media, is enjoined to apply utmost caution in the reportage and narratives concerning this,” the statement read.
