365Daily– The formal inauguration of members of various Committees of the Tinubu/Shettima Women Presidential Campaign Team will hold on Monday, 10th October 2022.
The event is scheduled to hold at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, a statement issued by the Organising Committee of the team disclosed on Saturday, October 8, 2022, in Abuja.
365Daily recalls that Nigeria’s First Lady, Aisha Buhari, was last week announced as the grand patron of the women’s wing of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Team, while the wife of the Presidential Candidate, Oluremi Tinubu, a former First Lady of Lagos State and three-term senator representing Lagos Central in the Senate, and that of the vice-presidential candidate, former First Lady of Borno State, Nana Shettima, will serve as Chairman and Co-Chairman respectively.
Since the unveiling of the women’s campaign team, positive reactions have been trailing it across the country, with many Nigerians the party’s effort at gender mainstreaming. They also urged other parties to emulate the ruling party in their respective presidential campaigns.
Another observation in the aftermath of the announcement is that the APC’s women’s campaign team, comprising over 1,200 women drawn from across the country, will strengthen the party’s gender-sensitive credentials as the only major political party to have a female gubernatorial candidate in the 2023 election cycle.
The women’s campaign team will enjoy a degree of autonomy and organise its own programmes, and that there will be activities at the national, zonal and state levels, sources with the party said.
Efforts are also reportedly ongoing to rally the thousands of women-focused support groups affiliated with the APC for a nationwide mass mobilisation project.
