The activity was not a campaign, but to create awareness for the mega rally of the Labour Party for the FCT coming up on September 24
A Support Group, Peter Obi Voters Community, POVC, on Saturday held a road walk to sensitise the public on the upcoming Abuja Mega Million Rally of the Labour Party slated for September 24.
The Labour Party mega rally is scheduled to take off from the Unity Fountain, Maitama, and to terminate at the Abuja City Gate.
During the road walk, which started at LEA Primary School, Pigba Sama, in Apo, Abuja, members walked down the Apo Mechanic Village to Gudu Market.
Speaking to the press, the National Coordinator, Moses Okorie, who addressed both the participants and other spectators, said the activity was not a campaign, but to create awareness for the mega rally of the Labour Party for the FCT coming up on September 24.
“We are not campaigning, we are rather creating awareness for the upcoming Abuja Mega Million Rally scheduled for September 24. We want people to come out in their numbers and walk for Obi. It will start at the Unity Fountain and terminate at the Abuja City Gate”.
He promised that Abuja would be completely shut down for Peter Obi and Ahmed Datti for the rally.
On his part, the National Secretary of the group, Abel Lazarus, said anything done for Peter Obi is worth doing, because the present situation of Nigeria does not require citizens sitting on the fence.
He called on Abuja residents to turn up in their numbers to show solidarity to Peter Obi and Ahmed Datti on the said date.
Also speaking, the National Financial Secretary of POVC, Mr. Fortune Kenneth, urged Nigerians who registered during the last Continuous Voter Registration to endeavour to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) once they are ready.
He frowned at people who, after registering for PVCs, refuse to collect them from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The road walk attracted a lot of people, including the Chairman of Labour Party in Garki Ward of the Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, FCT.
