365Daily – A former Member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Robinson Uwak, who accused the current Chairman of the House Committee on Media and Publicity, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, of having an affair with his wife, Kezia Uwak, has insisted that he stands by his allegations and will not apologise for making it public.
This is sequel to Hon. Kalu’s demand, through his lawyer, Prof. Ernest Ojukwu, SAN, of Ojukwu Faotu and Yusuf Chambers, that Uwak should write an apology letter over the claims made against him and publish it in at least two national dailies, which will be distributed to members of the National Assembly, or face court action.
Hon. Kalu said he knew the ex-Lawmaker’s wife when she was single and worked for him between 2017 and 2019 during his preparation for 2019 election as a freelance photographer and graphic designer.
However, Hon. Uwak, through his counsel, Isa Bello of Nureini Jimoh (SAN) Chambers, in a letter dated July 19, 2022 and addressed to Hon. Benjamin Kalu, maintained that he made the claims from a background of facts, adding that the accused threat to ”institute an action at this time is a failed strategy to create a defence before the Committee on Ethics and Privileges (or any other Committee of the House that may hear the matter), that the matter is subjudice and therefore out of the jurisdiction of the House Committee.”
He continued: “Our Client maintains that these statements against you are not garnished fables of falsehood or verisimilitudes of reality. They are truthful claims of a man desperate to save his life and marriage.”
”It is important to state that such flawed logic does not take into account that the House Committee is looking into your misconduct rather than the statements of our Clients. These are two completely separate issues that may relate to the same set of facts.”
The Counsel advised the Lawmaker to: “We advise you to withdraw from the said relationship and apologise to our Client immediately. This is because your actions have caused our client great pain and emotional distress.”
