Lobi Stars Football Club of Makurdi on Wednesday defeated visiting Kwara United FC 3-1 in a 2021/2022 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Match Day 31 fixture.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the match at the Aper Aku Stadium saw the hosts scoring through Chinonso Okonkwo, Adams Olamilekan and Barnabas Imenger Jr.
They scored the three goals in the 25th, 50th and 61st minutes of the game, while Samuel Tiza scored Kwara United’s only goal in the 44th minute.
Lobi Stars’ coach Terfa Akombo later expressed happiness over his side’s defeat of the visiting team.
Akombo, however, blamed the first half goals drought to his players’ failure to take their chances until the pep talk durng half-time.
”It fired them to up their game, resulting in two additional goals.”
He assured the team’s fans of more victories for the team in the remaining matches.
The coach said they would go back to the drawing board and correct the identified players’ mistakes.
“The players lacked concentration in the second half. If not, they would have scored more than two goals,” he said.(NAN)
