The Gombe State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Nitte Amangal, on Monday, assured Senator Godswill Akpabio and members of their support in his presidential ambition.
Amagal stated this in his welcome speech at the consultative meeting between Senator Akpabio and the party delegates and stakeholders.
According to him, delegates in Gombe State under the leadership of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, are united in their resolve to speak with one voice.
Addressing party delegates and stakeholders at the Government House, Senator Akpabio said, If elected as the President, he would promote peace and unity, using love, justice and fairness as tools.
He said: “It is my desire to build bridges of unity and peace across the country, by promoting love, justice, equity and fairness to all Nigerians irrespective of their religious or ethnic affiliations.”
The former Senate Minority Leader, noted that, as Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, he worked with critical stakeholders in the oil producing region to bring about peace in the region, adding, “through our genuine collaboration and engagement with critical stakeholders and leaders in the Niger Delta, the region is today, the most peaceful in the country. I will fight insecurity, using technology, if given the opportunity to be Nigeria’s president.”
Akpabio said his administration will resuscitate the economy through development of the agriculture and manufacturing sectors to create jobs. To look at my face or where I come from, look at my records. I want to replicate what I did in Akwa Ibom State from 2007-2015, across the nation.”
Earlier, the Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, while welcoming Akpabio and members of his campaign organization to Gombe, disclosed that Gombe State, “is desirous of a president that has the interest of the people at heart and will help actualize its dreams of a better tomorrow .”
Yahaya said judging by his antecedents and track record in public offices as former Commissioner, Governor, Senator and Minister, “Akpabio has the capacity to lead the nation to greater heights”.
The state governor, who spoke through his deputy, Dr Manassah Daniel Jatau, told Akpabio and his entourage that his administration has developed a 10-year plan that has created a guide for the investment in the health and education sectors.
In his remarks, Director General of Godswill Akpabio Campaign Organisation and former FCT Minister, Dr. Aliyu Modibbo Umar, said the former governor and presidential hopeful has solid credentials and wherewithal to lead Nigeria, particularly at a time when the country is facing myriad of socio-economic and political challenges.
He said he believes in the capacity of Akpabio to deliver a progressive Nigeria to the people, having interacted with the presidential aspirant for the past 15 years. He advised Gombe APC delegates to be decisive in their action of choosing the party’s presidential flag bearer, noting that the 2023 election will be a watershed.
