365Daily – Following intervention by top party stalwarts, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State has directed the chairman of the state’s All Progressives Congress (APC) to consider Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin as one of the aspirants for the Kiru/Bebeji House of Representatives ticket.

Hon. Jibrin, an ex-member of the House of Representatives, yesterday announced that he was dumping the APC as he had “done his best” and it was time to “move on”. He said he was going to announce his new party today, Sunday, May 8, 2022.

365Daily learnt that his resolve to leave the party stemmed from the fallout of the 2019 elections where Gov. Ganduje had to fight hard for his reelection.

Jibrin was alleged to have upset state party stalwarts by not showing support or efforts to help the party sail through the reelection at that time.

Anonymous sources told our correspondents that this also pitched the governor against the ex-lawmaker, who is said to be nursing an ambition to return to the Green Chamber and move to be the Speaker.

In reaction to his announcement, the Chairman of APC, Kano State, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, said Gov. Ganduje has directed that Hon. Jibrin’s request to return to the House should be given consideration.

He said in a press statement issued last Saturday night that the given directed that “measures for the amicable resolution of the internal differences arising from interested parties seeking nomination to contest election into the Kiru/Bebeji federal constituency” should be taken.

He continued: “To this end, the party secretariat has complied and summoned a stakeholders meeting to discuss the situation in the constituency.”

Abbas revealed  that an invitation has been sent to all the aspiring candidates for the position.

He said Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin has already accepted the proposal and readiness to attend the meeting.

Abbas called on the parties to remain calm and cooperate with the party with a view to resolving the internal crisis and further assured that the meeting would come up with a position acceptable to all the aspirants.
