The Speaker, Imo House of Assembly, Mr Kennedy Ibeh, Wednesday dissolved the committees on Commerce and Industry as well as Public Utilities and Public Safety.
Ibeh also constituted a new committee on Mines and Solid Minerals to be headed by Mr Kanayo Onyemaechi (APC Owerri West) with Philip Ejiogu (APC Owerri North) and Mr Hercules Okoro (APC Ohaji Egbema) as members.
He charged the Ad hoc Committee Investigating the suspension of six members to submit its preliminary report by April 21, 2022.
Ibeh further advised the chairman of the committee, Mr Kanayo Onyemaechi, not to tolerate the excesses of the suspended members in the course of the assignment.
He expressed concern over the unpaliamentary conduct allegedly displayed by the affected members prior to their suspension.
He, however, expressed the hope that they would “repent” in due course.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the house had on Nov. 8 and Dec. 23, 2021 suspended the six members over their alleged unparliamentary conduct.
The members are Mr Ekene Nnodumele (APC Orsu), Mr Okey Onyekenma (APC Mbaitoli), Mr Paul Emeziem (APC Onuimo) and Mr Obinna Okwara (APC Nkwerre).
Also suspended were Mr Authur Egwim (APC Ideato North) and Mrs Ngozi Obiefule (APC Isu). (NAN)
