Valentine Ozigbo, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the 2021 Anambra governorship election, has congratulated Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, who recently emerged as the Chairman of the Anambra State Chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ).
Odogwu, an accomplished journalist and lecturer with several years of experience in media and journalism. He currently serves as the South East Editor of Authority Newspaper and a Mass Communications lecturer at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University.
Odogwu was sworn in as the union’s Chairman on Friday, January 28, 2022, after garnering the majority of the votes at the body’s election held at The Godwin Ezeemo International Press Centre, Awka.
In a brief message, Mr Ozigbo congratulated Dr Odogwu and other newly-elected executives, urging them to continue to uphold the highest standards of journalistic excellence.
“I congratulate my brother and friend, Dr Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, on this well-deserved elevation. In the time I have known him, he has displayed commitment, initiative and leadership qualities that stand him out,” Ozigbo, a multiple award-winning global CEO, said.
“The fourth estate of the realm plays a vital role in the affairs of any society and deserve commendation for the selfless service they deliver to keep us informed.
“As the new Executive Council of the NUJ in Anambra State begin their term, I wish them wisdom, a bar-raising tenure in office which will help in shaping a better future for members of the union and Anambra State in extension,” Ozigbo added.
Valentine Ozigbo, who was recently voted as the Anambra State Man of the Year 2021, was notably the most media-friendly politician in the run-up to the November 6, 2021, Anambra guber election, and maintains a cordial relationship with members of the Anambra NUJ.
