365Daily – Sokoto State Government has debunked rumours that Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal was attacked by bandits.
A statement on Friday, December 10, 2021, by Muhammad Bello, Special Adviser Media and Publicity to the Governor, described the rumours as unfounded, adding that the governor is “hale and hearty”.
The erroneous information had it that Tambuwal and his deputy were attached on their way to condole families that lost loved ones in the recent heinous killings of tens of people by the bandits in the state.
The statement said that “Contrary to an unfounded allegation that Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto state was attacked and escaped death in the hands of bandits at a village in one of the local government areas in the Eastern flank of the state, the Governor is alive and was never attacked.
“The news peddled and circulated is simply a false and spurious claim by a fictitious online media platform calling itself “Critical Times.”, Bello said.
He said that, “While it was true that the Governor, along with his Deputy, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, heads of security outfits in the state and other government officials visited Sabon Birni to condole the people of the area over the loss of 23 passengers, to an attack by bandits, it is not true that he was attacked.”
