(NYSC), has advised Prospective Corps Members (PCM) to let the corps’ Oath binds on them during and after the service year.
Ibrahim gave charge during his visit to the 2021 Batch ‘C’, Stream ‘2’ PCM deployed to Lagos State for the national orientation programme with the swearing in holding on Tuesday at the NYSC Camp, Iyana-Ipaja, Lagos.
“You must allow the Oath of NYSC binds on you during and after the service year.
“The essence is for you to continue to promote our national unity and integration because NYSC puts the nation first,” the NYSC director-general said.
He described the PCM as youths with great potential in various fields, raging from political positions in the country and owners of companies that must give in their best toward achieving their dreams.
“The road to success is not always easy, therefore, you must cherish your integrity, work very hard and be committed to your dream; by that I can assure you that sky will not be your limit.
“You all have potential, and you can use the NYSC as a platform to be successful; amongst you here are president of this country, governors, chairmen of industries,” Ibrahim said.
The NYSC director-general warned the PCM against the misuse of social media, particularly in forwarding contents, adding that it was washed with fake news and misleading information.
“I repeat that you must be careful on the use of social media; you must be sure of the information you are forwarding to anybody because you can be traced.
“Don’t use it to spread fake news, hatred, blackmail or falsehood, but rather use the social media to promote national unity and integration.” he added.
While assuring them of a memorable service year, he warned them not to bribe anyone to post them to a particular place for primary assignment after the orientation programme.
According to him, anyone found wanting of such act would be posted to a place against his or her target.
On the sidelines, Ibrahim emphasised that all corps members must get the COVID-19 vaccination, and have a proof of it, saying it was a directive by the Federal Government.
“You are all aware that the Federal Government has given a directive that all the public servants, NYSC members inclusive, that by Dec. 1, you must show your proof of vaccination before you can be allowed to enter any office.
“So, make sure you are vaccinated as a public servant, NYSC inclusive are giving priority to be vaccinated, because when you are posted to your place of primary assignment and you don’t have a proof of the vaccination, you will not be accepted.
“Don’t listen to any misleading information on the vaccination. I have long taken my first and second vaccination, the essence is to protect yourself and others.
“I don’t want to get any report that you are rejected in your place of posting because you have not taken your COVID-19 vaccination or not show evidence of it,” Ibrahim added.
