On Saturday, November 6, 2021, all roads will lead to Okuta in Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara state for the turbaning ceremony of a consumate Journalist, Abdulazeez Arowona as the Shettiman of Okuta emirate.
The epoch making event which is billed to take place at the Emir’s Palace Square, will be performed by His Royal Highness, Alhaji Abubakar Idris Sero, Kperogi Affon- Serobetete III, the Emir of Okuta and chairman, Baruten Traditional Council.
Abdulazeez Olalekan Arowona is an erudite journalist with super wealth of experience. He plies his trade with passion and in strict adherence to the principles and ethics of the journalism profession.
The seasoned journalist is a lover of his people and culture who strives to preserve their history by continuously documenting it in both electronics and print.
Arowona was born to the family of late Alhaji S.A Arowona, Asileke compound, Oke-Apomu in the Ilorin West local government area. The Authority gathered that as a young boy, he came under the tutelage of a prominent Islamic scholar, Alhaji Muhammed Nasir Abdulkareem who shaped his horizon and passion for Quaranic recitation and research for Islamic knowledge where he developed uncommon passion for erudism and insatiable quest for knowledge.
His journalism practice has witnessed a bourgeoning trajectory with enviable records that made him to ply his trade at various media ranging from prints, electronics, and new media.
Abdulazeez is a well-respected media guru, an author, presenter, producer, a prolific writer and above all, the founder, publisher and the chief executive officer of Royal News Newspapers, an online media platform.
Little wonder the alumnus of the Better by Far University was selected to serve as the National Secretary of Shehu Alimi Foundation for Peace and Development, a body established by His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR, the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Council of Chiefs and later became his Spokesperson till date.
The dark skinned, soft spoken, humble and philanthropist has strategically remained a defender
of traditional institutions and a consistently committed voice behind the highly referred thrones of emirship and rulership across the length and breadth of Kwara state in particular and NorthernNigeria in general.
Little wonder he is rewarded with the well- deserved appointment and
conferment of one of the highest traditional titles in the emirate through the gesture of Alhaji Hon. (Dr) Abubakar Sero Idris, the emir of Okuta and Chairman Baruten Traditional Rulers Council.
Abdulazeez is one of the highly decorated recipient of many awards and member of many local and international professional bodies. These include member Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ)
member of the International Centre for Global Research and Associate member of the Institute of Chartered Economists of Nigeria (ICEN).
Arowona is married to Hajia Misitura Lawal-Arowona and the marriage is blessed with two boys.
