365Daily – Hon. John Nwokoye, representing Awka North Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly has expressed great joy for joining the All Progressives Congress (APC) from his former political party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
Hon. Nwokoye made this known in a statement he personally signed and made available to 365Daily after he was received by the hierarchy of the party in Abuja on Saturday, October 30, 2021.
According to him, “Today, after 18 years of active politicking in APGA during when I helped to reposition the party, I have decided, after wide consultations, to take my leave of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), to move on, hence my decision to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“While I take full responsibility for this decision, it’s pertinent I state that this decision is unavoidable because of certain elements and forces within APGA who have ensured that the dogmas of the party, ‘Onye Aghana Nwanneya’ and ‘Nkea Bu Nkeanyi’, are slaughtered on the altar of clannishness, personal vendetta and ego.
“These forces have done everything to ensure that the basic rules of APGA’s internal democracy, which should promote harmonious relations were blatantly disregarded. All entreaties for justice, equity and fairness as basic preconditions for peace and unity were simply ignored, or employed as an additional pretext for further exclusion.
“I’m a believer of developments, I am a believer of the safety and progress of my people and that is why I have been able to check the variables, the options and decided to pitch our political tent with APC, where we could enjoy a greater sense of belonging and where the interests of the greatest number of my constituents would be best served”.
The lawmaker said he was sad that people of Awka North have suffered in the hand of the present government of Willie Obiano of the APGA.
“The experience of ndi Awka North in the last 7 years, is that which question if truly we are an integral part of Anambra State. We have suffered an embarrassing alienation and have been treated as outsiders in own State. Many have reached to me, disaffected and disenchanted, and that is why I decided to seek accommodation elsewhere to seek redress and correct these anomalies.
“Awka North is yet to feel the pulse of this administration. The sole reason why i consistently seek to serve my people was based on improving their welfare and bringing about social justice, and sadly in the past 7 years, APGA has failed in that regard.
“Power has only one duty – to secure the social welfare of the people and in APC, we hope to deliver on such promises, but first, by delivering the Governorship Candidate of the party, Senator Andy Uba, Igwebuike.
“I am mindful of the fact that now, more than ever, I carry on my shoulder a greater responsibility for thousands of More Money Supporters, political associates and friends, who have trusted in my leadership and have attached their political fortunes to mine.
“Politics is about the people and in representing them we must selflessly be the medium through which their voice are heard and dividend of democracy getting to them.
“Together, we shall break the jinx of inconsistency and unproductiveness and replace it with a breath of freshness that comes with productiveness and new hope for a progressive Awka North.
“Dear Constituents, there are three important things that I said I will never lose sight of since you elected me; Number one is that, the people of Awka North remain supreme, number two is that I will continue to represent your interest and number three is that I will never stop listening to you.
“Now, as an APC lawmaker, I will still never lose sight of that”.
