365Daily -The Ebonyi Judicial Panel of Inquiry on Police Brutality, Extra-judicial killings and Human Rights Violations has recommended the payment of N189 million to victims of extra-judicial killings in the state.
Chairman of the panel, Justice Alloy Nwankwo, disclosed this on Thursday in a press briefing in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital.
He revealed that the panel, which was constituted in October 20, 2020, received a total of 71 petitions, out of which 51 were determined and 20 struck out due to poor prosecution.
Justice Nwankwo added that the recommendations of the panel also included sanctions for security agencies indicted for extra judicial killings and other forms of violation of fundamental human rights.
