365Daily – Another glorious feather has been added to former President Goodluck Jonathan’s growing International recognition since he left office as President of Nigeria, as he has been inaugurated Chancellor of Cavendish University, Uganda.
The former President made the disclosure on his Facebook page on Thursday, August 26, 2021.
The elated Dr. Jonathan wrote: “I am pleased to have been formally inaugurated as the Chancellor of Cavendish University Uganda and to have performed my first official function in that capacity at the 10th Graduation Ceremony of the University today in Kampala, Uganda.
“I congratulate the new graduands and urge them to deploy their knowledge towards positively impacting people, building a community of reformers and improving the society.” He said.
Announcing the appointment earlier in April, the university stated, “The new Chancellor was appointed following a rigorous search among eminent African leaders distinguished for their ingenuity and commitment to the promotion of Education and Social Development in Africa, and following the recommendation of the University’s Advisory Council.
As a strong believer in quality education, he is quoted saying, “If we do not spend billions educating our youth today, we will spend it fighting insecurity tomorrow. And you do not have to spend on education just because of insecurity. It is also the prudent thing to do.”
It stated further, “The entire fraternity of Cavendish University Uganda is very pleased and honoured to welcome Chancellor H.E. Dr Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan in his new position, following in the footsteps of other distinguished African leaders that have occupied the same position before him.
“We look forward to his leadership in propelling the university in the achievement of its new mission of transforming and inspiring students to reach their full potential in employment, entrepreneurship and ethical leadership.”
